Types of Hot-Applied Systems

Built-Up Roofing (BUR)

Layers of felt or fiberglass mats alternated with molten asphalt or coal tar pitch. Often finished with gravel or reflective coating.

Pros: Very durable, excellent UV and water resistance.

Built-Up Roofing (BUR)

Modified Bitumen (Hot-Applied)

Sheets reinforced with fiberglass or polyester. Hot bitumen is applied to bond layers.

Pros: Faster installation than BUR, still durable, can be applied on tricky roof shapes.
